On the Bright Side (June 17 Edition)
Last night’s 7-2 loss to the seventh-place Wisconsin Timber Rattlers did many negative things for the LumberKings. They’ve lost four-straight for the first time all year, have slipped behind Peoria to fourth in the West Division, and most importantly, have been eliminated from first-half playoff contention.
The Kings could finish 39-30 at best, while second-place Quad Cities could finish with the same record at worst. However, the River Bandits hold the tiebreaker, head-to-head record, with a 4-2 mark against Clinton.
That means it’s time for another edition of “On the Bright Side”.
While the LumberKings were officially eliminated from the playoff picture last night…
- At least we start fresh in the second half. The LumberKings open up against Beloit at home on June 25 at 7:00 PM.
- At least we have the 2010 Midwest League All-Star Game to get excited about. It was announced the other day that Nick Franklin will take part in the Home Run Derby on Monday night in Fort Wayne.
- At least we get to watch Erasmo Ramirez (5-2, 2.43) go to work tonight. He’s 5-0 over his last six starts and has still walked just three batters while striking out 40 over 59.1 innings.
- At least you still get LumberKings Game Notes:

And that’s all for now. I don’t plan on doing a pregame interview tonight, but if I come up with anything, it will certainly be posted here.
