Outfielder Dwight Britton heads to Clinton as Kris Sanchez hits DL
Clinton, IA -The Clinton LumberKings, in conjunction with the Seattle Mariners have announced the addition of outfielder Dwight Britton to the 25-man roster. Britton has been promoted from short-A Pulaski to take the place of DH Kris Sanchez, who has been transferred to the disabled list effective today.
Britton, a non-drafted free agent signed by the Mariners in 2003, hit .288 with eight doubles, seven home runs and 23 RBI in 44 games with the Pulaski Mariners prior to the call-up. The Corn Island, Nicaragua native hit .253 with six home runs and 37 RBI with Pulaski last year, .263 with eight RBI in 30 games in the Arizona League in 2007.
Sanchez hit .291 with 20 doubles, 10 home runs and 41 RBI in 72 games with the LumberKings this season. The West Division All-Star also spent time on the disabled list from July 16 through August 1.
The move gives the LumberKings a total of 25 active players on the roster, including one on the disabled list. No number is yet known for Britton, who joins the club in Clinton tonight.

Jetsy Extrano promoted to Clinton, Kris Sanchez transferred to disabled list
Clinton, IA – The Clinton LumberKings, in conjunction with the Seattle Mariners have announced the addition of infielder Jetsy Extrano to the 25-man roster. Extrano arrives from Peoria, AZ, replacing injured first-baseman Kris Sanchez, who was transferred to the disabled list yesterday (retroactive to July 20).
Extrano, 20, hit .333 (33-for-99) with eight doubles, a triple, four home runs, 24 RBI and five steals in 26 games for the Peoria Mariners this season. He was originally signed by the Mariners in 2005 out of Venezuela and has spent three of the last four seasons with Aguirre of the Venezuela Summer League. He sat out all of 2007 with a torn left hamstring.
Sanchez hit .307 with 15 doubles, nine home runs and 36 RBI over 57 games with the LumberKings prior to hitting the DL. The West Division All-Star was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2007.
Catcher Fleming Baez has also been reinstated from the Clinton disabled list and transferred to double-A West Tennessee.
The moves give the LumberKings a total of 25 active players with four additional players listed on the disabled list. Sanchez Wins MWL Player of the Week
Kris Sanchez takes home offensive award, hits with 3 HR, 6 RBI
Clinton, IA – Clinton LumberKings’ first-baseman Kris Sanchez has been named the Midwest League’s Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending May 9. The award was announced today by the league office in Beloit, WI.
Sanchez, called up to the club from extended Spring Training last Tuesday, hit .563 (9-for-16) during the week, including three home runs within his first three games and six RBI. He has hit in all five games since joining the LumberKings.
The LumberKings (18-11) return to action on Tuesday, May 12th against the Beloit Snappers (11-18). The first pitch at Alliant Energy Field is scheduled for 6:00 PM. Listen to the game on AM 1390 KCLN in Clinton or live on the web at www.kcln.com.
